Excel Engineering's specialty is engine testing on a dynamometer. We also provide other services such as building turbos, vehicle testing, etc. Our facilities are capable of in house engine removal, and we also have a fabricating area for producing the necessary requirements for individual projects. Along with basic fabricating tools, we also have a 3 axis CNC mill and CNC lathe to help in producing prototype parts.

Doug Sobotka graduated from Diagonal High School. He continued his education with two years at DMACC and transferred to Iowa State University where he completed his degree in Engineering.

In 1993 Doug began his work with Cummins in Columbus, Indiana, where he worked for 9 years in combustion performance and emissions.

In June of 2002 Doug and his family returned to Diagonal and construction began on the home of Excel Engineering. In October 2002 the construction was done and the real work began.
